BACKYARD BASH

The festival’s Backyard Bash features family friendly activities throughout the park and DJ sets in the Queens Museum, recreating the memorable garden parties that Louis hosted for his friends and neighbors at his home in Corona where he lived for almost 30 years.

Join us at Pops’ Place at the Queens Museum, where we’ll play Satchmo-inspired tunes, and we’ll serve refreshments at our indoor beer garden to help you cool down on a summer day.

POP’S PLACE ACTIVITIES 

1-4PM – A Queens Museum Visitor Experience Agent will highlight famous jazz spots on the Panorama of the City of New York in English and Spanish.
1-7pm – Indoor beer garden open at the Queens Museum with sets by DJ Cochon de Lait

*Admission to the Queens Museum is free with a suggested donation, but access to the indoor beer garden is restricted to those 21 and over who have purchased a wristband for entry.

Family Area

Our family area will provide a space to relax together and take part in some wonderful activities for children of all ages to enjoy. Expect delightful family-friendly activities including face painting, stilt walkers, arts and crafts, music for kids, and more.

1-5pm – Face painting
3-5pm – The Big Apple Circus
3-5pm – Arts & Crafts table with Queens College
4-5pm – Cumbia for Kids

"Food Truck Fridays" at RDV Sportsplex

Food Court

We’ve got you covered when you get hungry. Stop by the food court and sample a wide variety of local food trucks and flavors. We’ll have ethnic cuisine, and old school favorites. Scheduled to attend are Gorilla Cheese, Andy’s Italian Ices, Luke’s Lobster, Kimchi Taco Truck, Nuchas Empanadas, Bundts NYC, Viva Natural Foods, The Grand Market, and more.

Queens Theatre

The fun continues at the Queens Theatre where festival goers can enjoy the indoor beer garden and a discussion about Louis Armstrong’s roots. 

QUEENS THEATRE ACTIVITIES 

1-7 Indoor Beer Garden at the Queens Theatre
2pm and 3pm Discussion on Louis Armstrong’s New Orleans’ roots with The Louis Armstrong House Museum’s Ricky Riccardi at the Cabaret Room

Access to the indoor beer garden is restricted to those 21 and over who have purchased a wristband for entry.
